On the afternoon of May 13, Zhang Jinjin, an eight year-old, second-grade girl at Poyang Village Elementary School in Luohe City’s Heilongtan Township in Henan, was “sentenced” by her teacher to 320 strokes with a board two finger-widths thick and one meter long, because she had not completed the homework assigned by her mathematics teacher, the “Outstanding Instructor in the Township” Huang Erzhou.
