According to Lu Benfu, cyberspace economics expert and associate dean of the Management school at the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, some internet marketing companies are directed by their clients to post a large number of threads disparaging and libeling their competitors, thus earning the name cyber muscleman companies. In the past three years, these group forces have burgeoned.

CCTV reported that almost all internet public relations companies employ large numbers of staff to increase their clients’ influence by posting and replying to threads. Those individuals who are temporarily gathered to make postings are called “Internet Sailors,” and they practically control all of the mainstream BBS in the country...
