On May 29, Zhou Li announced through Boxun network: “Between March and April, 2011, I was forced to disappear. I was detained in a secret base of the Public Security Bureau in Miyun County, suburbs of Beijing City. This base has been called the “Jasmine Revolution Special Unit.” During the detention, I made three written promises under torture and duress. I promised firstly not to accept interviews from any foreign press; secondly, not to communicate with politically sensitive figures; and thirdly, not to participate in any public incident. I now proclaim that starting from today, all these promises shall be revoked and I will bear all consequences arising therefrom.”
