The case was investigated by Gaolan County Public Security Bureau, and was reviewed and prosecuted by Lanzhou City People’s Procuratorate. After the review, the following facts were found:

During the period from July 2007 to March 2012, the defendant Chen Pingfu registered several blogs and micro-blogs (equivalents of Twitter) in his own name, in websites such as NetEase, Baidu, Souhu, Mtime, Sina and Tianya, etc. Through these channels, he released and reprinted thirty-four articles including ‘This is a War between the Goods and the Evils on the Final Home of Your Soul’, ‘Weasel Serves Chicken’, ‘Against Barbarism, in Pursuit of Civilization’, ‘Robbery or Law Enforcement?’, ‘Rule of Law Does Not Only Mean Restricting Rights of the Ordinary People’, ‘Unyielding Souls Can Never Be Tamed’ and ‘A Lesson Taught by the Egyptians, We Can No Longer Endure Being Fooled by Honeyed Words’. In these articles, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Three Represents and the Scientific Thought of Development were commented as being unbeneficial to the society and people; seditious views...
