The Gao Yingpo“Endangered National Security”Case

Gao Yingpo, former director of the editor-in-chief’s office of Huashang Times, had interviewed two PRC leaders at the end of the 1980s. At the end of 2009, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison because he released his diary at his QQ web space criticizing the Chongqing’s “Crackdown of Mafia Campaign.” He has already served one and a half years.

The hearing for the Gao Yingpo case was held secretly and the sentence could not be appealed. Gao himself indicated that he “would obey the sentence,” and promised the Chongqing authority that he would “never ask for rehabilitation” of the case.
