Two High-speed Rail Projects Halted by MEP

On May 18, the Ministry of Environmental Protection disclosed on its website that it has issued the “Order to Make Correction of the Unlawful Acts” to the Tianjin-Qinhuangdao Special Passenger Line Limited since the Tianjin-Qinhuangdao high speed passenger line was put into construction without approval from the Environmental Impact Appraisal Document of a Construction Project. Thus, construction work on the 261.3 mile passenger line project was ordered to be stopped. The Tianjin-Qinhuangdao Special Passenger Line Limited was also ordered by the MEP to re-submit the Environmental Impact Appraisal Document of a Construction Projectprior to June 15. Otherwise, construction would not be resumed.
