Supreme Court’s New Criminal Procedure Judicial Interpretation Removes Clause Punishing Lawyers

On December 1, Director Hu Yunteng of the Policy Research Office of the Supreme Court of the PRC indicated at the China University of Political Science and Law that the clause to punish lawyers in the draft judicial interpretation by the Supreme Court on Criminal Procedure Law will be deleted. He said that the criminal procedure judicial explanation will only improve, not decrease, the protection of lawyers’ rights to defend.
