Sanofi uses the BRI as a springboard into the Chinese primary healthcare market.

Oct 23, 2018 (China Knowledge) - French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi has launched the China Health Road Project as the company seeks to take a foothold in the Chinese primary healthcare market. The project will include community and county-level hospitals in China's major cities and provinces.

The Sanofi China Health Road Project will target seven Chinese cities located along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). These cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi'an. The French company will be conducting 1,700 training session and various other event which will include around 2,000 hospitals in these cities.

The company hopes to expand the project to include 14 cities in 12 provinces next year and eventually cover 94% of the area along the BRI by 2020.

The company will be bringing drugs, vaccines and leading disease management models to China's primary healthcare sector. It also hopes to introduce new technologies that utilize big data and artificial intelligence, and an innovative platform which provides advanced medical solutions and resources, to the country.
