A Middle School in Hangzhou Forbids Boys and Girls from Staying Together

It was revealed that Hangzhou Changhe Senior High School requires senior boys and

girls to keep the distance of no less than 50cm from the opposite sexes, not to dine

together and not to appear in the school as couples. Yuan, vice principal of the school

said that the reason for not allowing boys and girls to stay together is “to prevent overly

intimate relationships between boys and girls.”

In October 2011, Hong Kong resident Miss Wang saw a recruitment announcement on

the Shenzhen Stock Exchange website, which stated that the Exchange was seeking for

applicants under the age of twenty-eight. Through the internet, Miss Wang made contact

with an anti-discrimination NGO named the “Shenzhen Equity and Justice Initiative”

(SEJI), which she hoped could help in procuring the Exchange to change its
