discriminatory recruitment practices. On 19 October, SEJI’s managing director, Guo Bin,
sent a letter titled “Proposal Letter to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange for Changing Its
Recruitment Practices that Involve Age Discrimination to the Shenzhen Stock
Exchange, but received no response.
On November 17, Guo Bin filed a report with the Department of Human Resources and
Social Security of the City of Shenzhen. On April 5, 2012, the Department sent Guo a
reply, stating that “the [Shenzhen Stock Exchange] has voluntarily abolished the reported

Sichuan Female Peasant Fed Her Three Children with Pesticide
Peasant Tang Chengfang brought her three children back to the rural area of Sichuan
Province Dazhu County while her husband Li Heyuan worked in Fujian Province Fuzhou
City. On March 29, after forcing her 7-year-old, 5-year-old, and 8-month-old children to
swallow highly toxic pesticide, she attempted to commit suicide by drinking the pesticide
herself. Having brought to the hospital immediately after her neighbor discovered the
incident, the three children have yet to be lifted of emergency state.
