The Case of“zhoulibo.com”

Yue Tongyu, a literature enthusiast from Beijing, registered the domain name of “zhoulibo.com” in October 2007 to memorialize deceased writer Zhou Libo and share some of his work. In September 2011, comedian Zhou Libo, the founder of “Shanghai style stand-up comedy,” complained to the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center, claiming that the domain name is the same as the pinyin for his name and that it is highly probable that it will cause misunderstanding among the public The center ruled in his favor and transferred the domain name to him in December. In March this year, Ms.Yue sued in the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court for ownership of the domain, asking for the rejection of domain transfer.
